About

Hi, I'm Dec.

I'm a developer and creator who experiments with tech and writes about what actually works. Dec's Tech Notes is where I document my hands-on experience with the tools, gadgets, and workflows that shape how we build, work, and create today.

Why This Blog

Every month brings new AI models, dev tools, and hardware launches. The information is endless — but real, tested takeaways from someone who actually uses these tools? Surprisingly hard to find.

That's the gap this blog fills. Two principles guide every post:

  • I test things first. No hype, no marketing copy — just observations from actually installing, using, and breaking things.
  • I write to save your time. The bumps I hit, the workarounds I found, the conclusions I reached — all documented so you can skip the trial and error.

What I Write About

Tech is a wide umbrella, but here's where I focus:

  • AI tools and models — Real-world comparisons of Claude, GPT, Gemini, and the tools built on top of them
  • Developer tools — IDEs, AI-powered coding assistants like Claude Code and Cursor, build tools, and the workflows that ship products
  • Hardware and gadgets — Monitors, keyboards, peripherals, and devices I actually buy and use
  • Automation and workflows — n8n, no-code tools, scripts, and systems that eliminate repetitive work
  • Tech trends — What's actually changing in the industry, decoded for people who build, not just watch

What I Hope This Blog Is

Nothing grand. If someone searches for a tool comparison or a workflow tip, lands here, and walks away thinking "good — that saved me an hour," that's enough. I'd rather build a small archive of genuinely useful posts than a big pile of forgettable ones.

Feedback, questions, and suggestions are always welcome.
